Edward, Trainee Sales Development Representative - AXA Global Healthcare

Edward started at AXA Claims in 2018 and through internal opportunity, now works in the AXA Global Healthcare Triage Sales team, as a Trainee Sales Development Representative.

What does your typical day consist of as a Trainee Sales Development Representative?

A typical day consists of dialling potential customers, we fact find and try to understand what our customers are looking for. A key part of my role is being able to qualify a lead a customer completes on our website and then transfer them through to a Sales Consultant to discuss further. Additional responsibilities include creating quotes for individual brokers.

What inspired you to choose a career in Sales?

I previously worked in a claims handling environment which gave me great knowledge and experience of customer Service. I’ve always been interested in working in a Sales environment with targets to motivate me. We work to monetary inventive within a fast-paced environment, which I thrive in.

How does AXA support your career progression and what training & development opportunities are available to you?

I started in AXA Claims in November 2018 and then accepted a triage role September 2021, I was then given the opportunity to interview for a Sales Consultant role in April 2022 and was successful! There are great opportunities for progression within AXA. I was able to progress to the next step within 6 months of joining the triage role.

How do you shape the way you work?

Our team adopts a hybrid working approach, this consists of 1 day a week in the office to work as a team, with the option of working in office as many days as you’d like. The team come into the office to support new starters and we have after work Team building activities e.g. Socials, BBQ’s and Sports.

After a background in retail Eve joined the the AXA Global Healthcare Sales team in 2021 as a Sales Development Administrator​​​​​​.

What does your typical day consist of as a Trainee Sales Development Representative?

I’m responsible for lead generation via outbound calling. Contacting prospective clients who’ve completed a quote on our website to see if we can assist them further. The role requires an understanding of the customer’s needs so that we can effectively connect customers with the correct sales team. We have a friendly team, which are very supportive and the EU team from Ireland visit occasionally for team days and meetings in the office. I’m also a member of the team running club on Tuesday’s. We recently ran a 5km for charity!

What inspired you to choose a career in Sales?

I worked in retail sales prior to joining the AXA triage team at AXA in July 2021. I enjoy working with other people and a performance-based career motivates me to try and achieve my targets, as I’m rewarded for my hard work. We benefit from monthly incentives, with a monetary bonus for achieving targets. I also really enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

How does AXA support your career progression and what training & development opportunities are available to you?

There’s a development path into Direct or Broker Sales Consultant roles. We have the opportunity to shadow sales consultants, conduct call listening and have contact with the Broker team to get a better understanding of their role. We also benefit from Individual & SME training to help develop our knowledge and skills of running quotes for these business areas.

How do you shape the way you work?

We benefit from a Hybrid working approach working Monday - Friday, spending 1 day in office each week as a team, but we’re able to work in office as many day as we’d like! We use video calls and in person meetings to collaborate and have a group chat, so we can support each other even when working from home.
