Job overview:

We’re looking for positive, passionate and analytical people to join our Counter Fraud department, to investigate all potentially fraudulent motor claims from beginning to end, helping to combat the criminal activities that plague the insurance industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Detect and prevent fraud against the Group to include suppliers, customers and third parties, acting individually or in concert as organised fraudsters.
  • Manage a portfolio of suspected fraudulent claims from basic to complex, organised fraud rings and managing the same until completion (repudiation or settlement) whilst working to the low-cost operating model.
  • Actively participate in the strengthening of our counter-fraud capabilities through suggesting and devising new processes, procedures, initiatives, systems and training to the business.
  • Ensure adherence to the CFU Fraud strategy on fraud case handling (investigation, repudiation, recoveries and sanctions process) and keep up to date with developments in this area.
  • Ensure an understanding and application of all legislation and case law pertinent to the handling of fraud claims (Fraud Act 2006, POCA, RIPA, DPA, PACE, FoI etc).
  • To be fully competent in handling all elements of the claim process to include personal injury, credit hire, liability, fraud and litigation.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern:

You’ll work full time, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.

Induction & Training:

Induction Date: 11th May 2026

You’ll receive a comprehensive onsite induction from our specialist trainers to set you up for success in your new role. Our market leading 9 week training programme runs every two weeks so we can start you at a date to suit you. When you join us you will join an academy that will give you eight weeks dedicated training to ensure you are fully supported in your new role.

Your skills & experience:

  • Customer service and claims experience within counter fraud is essential.
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent standard is preferred. Progress to ACII, willingness to partake in the ACFS or Counter Fraud Investigator Apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent legislation i.e. Fraud Act, POCA, RIPA, DPA, FoI etc.
  • Competent in the use of investigation tools such as TraceIQ, Land Registry, social media etc.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of relevant case law and the impacts on fraud types with sound knowledge of the legal processes and stages of litigation.
  • Negotiation skills and use of tactics in managing injury claims.
  • Detailed end to end knowledge of claims process including quantum assessment and litigation procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, planning and organisational skills, and perceptive with a keen attention to detail.
  • PC literate and able to use Word, Excel and Access.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Works well under own initiative and as part of a team.
