At AXA UK, our Data Research and Development (R&D) team is dedicated to harnessing the power of data to drive smarter, more predictive insurance pricing models for our Retail Motor and Household products. We focus on exploring new data sources and advanced analytics to enhance our segmentation and risk prediction capabilities, ensuring we stay ahead in a competitive market. As part of this dynamic team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of insurance analytics through innovative data enrichment strategies.

You’ll lead projects that leverage external and internal data to improve our predictive models, develop new features, and optimise data pipelines. You’ll work closely with risk pricing teams, providing technical expertise and insights that directly impact commercial outcomes. Your work will support AXA’s commitment to data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and support projects focused on data enrichment to enhance model accuracy and segmentation.
  • Identify and evaluate new predictive features from diverse data sources, assessing their commercial value.
  • Develop and implement advanced predictive models and analytics techniques.
  • Create and maintain robust data pipelines for live rating and ELR integration.
  • Support governance and contractual management of data sources and providers.
  • Act as the key interface between Data R&D and risk pricing model owners.
  • Develop tools and metrics to measure the value of new data sources.
  • Drive innovation by exploring novel ways to utilise existing data for modelling enhancements.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in a data analytics role
  • Proficiency in predictive modelling and analytical tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL.
  • Demonstrable experience working with external data sources and integrating them into models.
  • Strong numerical and mathematical skills, with a 2.1 degree or higher in a related discipline.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
  • A passion for learning new techniques, including machine learning and statistical methods.
