Job overview:

We’re excited to announce a new opportunity for a Pricing Underwriter to join our dynamic commercial department on a 12 month fixed term contract. In this pivotal role, you’ll leverage your expertise in risk assessment to price large corporate clients’ renewals and new business proposals, directly supporting our sales colleagues in renewing existing business and engaging with potential new clients. As a Pricing Underwriter, you’ll take charge of pricing and managing a diverse portfolio of large corporate renewals. You'll negotiate terms and monitor portfolio performance while gaining insights into how your contributions impact overall Large Corporate results. Key responsibilities:

  • Price new business and renewals for large corporate group accounts.
  • Provide technical pricing support and assist sales account managers and other stakeholders with trend analysis and justification of terms to enhance the negotiation process.
  • Engage in diverse projects that may extend beyond the large corporate sector, expanding your expertise and impact.
  • Support training initiatives through collaboration with the Underwriting Development Manager to train new team members and assist in the pricing training of sales colleagues.
  • Manage and monitor the performance of your portfolio to gain insights into its contribution to overall Large Corporate results.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office in Tunbridge Wells, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Induction & Training:

You’ll receive comprehensive training in this role which will require you to be in the office 5 days per week for up to 3 months initially.

Your skills & experience:

  • Demonstrable understanding of risk elements and performance metrics for corporate client renewals and new business.
  • Strong logical thinking and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Exceptional self-organisation capabilities to manage tasks effectively.
  • Excel and mathematical skills to analyse data accurately.
  • Ability to manage your own portfolio and workload efficiently.
  • Understanding of the PMI market and broader business landscape is desirable.
  • Effective communication skills to foster constructive relationships with sales colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Desire to thrive in high-pressure situations, utilising your negotiation and influencing skills to navigate requests from clients and brokers.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
