At AXA, our actuarial team plays a vital role in ensuring sound reserving practices, accurate performance monitoring, and insightful analysis that underpin our financial stability and strategic decision-making. We’re committed to maintaining excellence in technical expertise, data accuracy, and innovative methodologies to support our retail insurance lines.

As a Reserving Analyst, you’ll provide technical support for reserving and performance monitoring within AXA’s retail lines. Working closely with the Reserving Actuarial team, you will deliver accurate analysis, support business decision-making, and help enhance processes and methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your actuarial skills, gain industry insight, and contribute to AXA’s financial resilience.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the estimation of current and future loss ratios, providing actuarial analysis to underpin reserving and loss ratio processes, in collaboration with SBUs and senior reserving teams
  • Assist in assessing product profitability and line performance, supporting strategic decision-making across the retail insurance portfolio
  • Design and deliver analysis that supports strategic initiatives, ensuring decisions are based on sound actuarial judgment and data insights
  • Validate and reconcile MI data used for actuarial purposes, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of reporting
  • Support process improvements and methodological enhancements to meet evolving business and customer needs
  • Contribute to audit methodologies, ensuring compliance with internal and external audit standards, including IFC controls and risk mitigation
  • Support the quarterly reserve reviews and monthly performance reporting, fostering strong relationships with SBUs, Finance, MI, Claims, and Strategy teams
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring controls and risk mitigation practices are robust and up-to-date

Due to the number of applications we expect to receive for this role, we reserve the right to close this advert earlier than the listed closing date to ensure we’re able to effectively manage interest. Therefore, if you’re interested in joining us at AXA, please don’t hesitate to apply.

What you’ll bring:

  • Typically progressing through the Actuarial qualification (e.g., Actuarial Trainee, Part-qualified or near-qualified Actuary), or with relevant financial or insurance qualifications and experience
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and technical issues
  • Good understanding of reserving principles, performance monitoring, and insurance accounting
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and actuarial tools such as SAS, Python, VBA, or similar software
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships within and outside Finance and Actuarial teams
  • Ability to grasp complex technical issues and translate them into clear, actionable insights
  • A proactive, reliable team player committed to continuous learning and professional development
