In this role you will gain and utilise statistical modelling experience and technical, engineering skills, data mining, and analytical expertise to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources, and work on innovation projects.


You will work with the business or independently to define a problem statement, design & implement custom algorithms, process flows and layouts for complex data sets.

While working closely with Pricing and IT Architecture teams and operating companies to identify data challenges and opportunities. You will be supporting the full life-cycle of a Big Data solution, including:

  • Proof of concept execution to prove the value of Big Data use cases
  • Use case and business case development
  • Solution architecture formulation

You will also be responsible for supporting the full life-cycle implementation from requirements analysis, platform selection, technical architecture design, application design and development, testing and deployment.
You will answer data questions by using appropriate statistical techniques and communicate findings, best practises for instrumentation and experimentation to stakeholders; drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources and analyse and interpret the results of scientific experiments.

Please note that is is a Fixed term Contract for an anticipated period of 6 months.

As well as a relevant degree in Maths, Engineering or Science you will need a statistical know-how and insatiable curiosity and drive. If you are joining us without experience, you will be expected to work from our London office, where our wonderful skilled and experienced team members will be able to help you grow and develop into an all knowing and competent Data Engineer!

Experienced Candidates
If you have been working in a similar background, this role will allow you to fully utilise your experience and continue to further your career.


  • Experience working with NoSQL databases
  • Experience in a DevOps role
  • Expert knowledge of an analysis tool such as Python, Spark, R, Darabricks
  • Experience working with large data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience developing algorithms and fluency with at least one functional language such as Java
  • Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
  • Familiar with multi-dimensional database design and implementation
  • Good understanding of Insurance and Asset Management industries a plus
