Meet our People

My name is Andrew Chow. I'm working as a trainee actuary in AXA Bristol Centre, and I've been in AXA for four years now.

I joined AXA straight after university, and I joined the Product and Development team in the pricing area. Then I moved on to the Actuary, technical and Project Support team in 2005 where I was involved in a lot of testing on AXA projection systems and regulatory changes.

Then in Summer 2006 I moved onto the Capital team in Financial Risk Management. Our team are responsible to produce financial figures to the Financial Services Authority. And my most recent move came a month ago, when I moved to the Analyst Support team. In that team I was given a more diversified role, and I was involved in a lot more projects.

I have been lucky enough to go on a lot of courses provided by AXA. Last month I went to a presentation skills course, and just two days ago I went to a project management course. The course is really, really helpful and it's helped with my day to day job, and it kind of trained me up on the soft skills I need for career progression.

The work/life balance is really great in AXA, so I have time to go to the gym, play football with my friends and do my studying in AXA, because they have a study room. Not to mention there's a canteen, and outside the canteen there's a big lake that you can go around for a stroll after lunch, it's really relaxing and will keep me fresh for the rest of the day.

I would recommend AXA to my friends, because AXA is such a big company to work for. You will basically see AXA anywhere in the world. And by being such a big company it will give you a lot of opportunity to move around different departments or maybe even different countries and different locations.

Personally, I came from Hong Kong, and there's a big AXA building in Hong Kong as well. So when I talk to my friends where I work, they all know that I work for AXA, and that's a great company to work for.
